Several delivery points carry messages. One server going down does not have to stop everything.
Content stays protected
Delivery points carry encrypted messages. They do not need to know what your messages say.
Radio as another way
Compatible radios can carry short texts without internet access, provided a radio path is available.
A closer look: what does decentralised mean in PYRSA?
PYRSA uses multiple independent message stores for internet delivery. Messages are encrypted on the device before they are sent. Delivery points store and forward encrypted content; authorised recipients decrypt it on their devices.
- Delivery does not depend exclusively on one server.
- The internet and optional radio connection are different transport paths. The app merges duplicate messages received through different paths.
- Decentralised does not mean infrastructure is unnecessary: internet access, reachable delivery points or radios, and power are still needed.
Reliability depends on the available network and development status. Decentralisation does not guarantee delivery of every message.
